To Infinity and Beyond...

Yes I did just reference Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story. But sadly this post is not about Buzz.

I mentioned in a past wardrobe wednesday post that if you have a lot of "normal" scarves you can make them into loop or infinity scarves. Sometimes I will call it a loop scarf, sometimes i'll call it an infinity scarf. They mean the same thing so feel free to favor one or the other.

I own one actual infinity scarf. ONE! But i'll be honest, when I wear a scarf it's usually in the infinity form. I find it easier for my day to day life to wear my scarf that way. Nothing is more annoying than having to stop what you are doing because one side of your scarf is at a different length than the other side and you're being chocked. I know i'm not the only one this happens to.

So I have finally made my first (and very awkward) tutorial video for you all to watch so you can make your scarves into infinity scarves as well! Fun game: count how many times I say scarves in this video, and I say it A LOT...Oy!

If for some reason you can't watch the video (maybe you're at work, at dinner, you're like me and didn't realize your volume wasn't on, or you just like to read directions instead...) scroll down past the video and I have posted step by step directions.

Turning your scarf into an infinity scarf:
1. Take your scarf and make sure you have two distinct ends
2. Take the two ends and tie them together, don't tie them too tight so you can untie it later
3.You will have created a loop, you're almost done...
4. With your left hand grab the top of the loop and with your right hand grab the bottom of the loop
5. Cross the loop over one another, creating a figure 8, or an infinity symbol
6. Run your hands over the fabric to create one smooth opening
7. Place around your neck, fluff and fix
8. You have successfully converted your scarf into an infinity scarf!

Thanks for watching and reading!

Wardrobe Wednesday!

It's back, everyone's favorite! Ok, probably just mine. Today is all about being comfy and cozy. With this weather going back and fourth in the recent weeks I never know what to wear. Do I finally pack away all the tank tops and shorts and bring in the fall sweaters? I don't know to be honest. This has been the weirdest start to fall if I may say so myself.

Okay, confession time. I have been in my last year of classes for 5 weeks now. And this is the first time this semester I am wearing sweats to class. Up until today, I have gotten "dressed" in jeans and a nice top because I wanted to see how long I could go before I wore sweats to class. Now I know what some of you are thinking, how is that hard? Some of you have real jobs where you have to dress up, some just wear jeans anyways. All last semester I wore yogas or sweats like I was getting paid to do so. I never looked sloppy, always comfy, but I made a challenge to myself to see how long I could go this semester. 5 weeks. I think that's pretty good. College kids, weigh in... isn't your life so much better when you show up to class all comfy and cozy?!

I feel so embarrassed to put this picture up. Do you see all that dust on the mirror? Just keeping it real I guess. I sincerely apologize for my lack of dusting, but dust bunnies...here is your 12 seconds of fame, work it babe!

Like I said last week, I have some clothing from when I was in high school. These yellow PINK sweatpants are one of them. I got them christmas 2007 from my boyfriend, Daniel. Shout-out to all the people who are still with their high school sweetheart! And the black hoodie, it's a staple in my daily wardrobe. Why? Well it's black so it goes with everything but on the back it has my favorite thing...wait for it...DISNEY WORLD! It was an impulse buy last year when I went with three of my girlfriends and it was the best thing I've bought to date. I was cold, I didn't pack a hoodie, I was in the happiest place on earth, you see where this is going...

How cool is that back?! It's all the parks on the back of one hoodie and guess what! It's got glitter on it!! Also, in keeping this post true to real life...I didn't plan on crossing my legs like that. Apparently I can't just stand like a normal human being. I loose my balance more times that I should admit or I'm always tripping over something. I currently was trying to not fall over as the picture was being taken. Hence the leg crossing. I didn't forget you little grey tank top! I see you trying so hard to peek out.

Now the part you all scroll down to see, where can you get it! I'm working from the bottom up this time...

Sweatpants: Victorias Secret, PINK. Mine are from 2007, if you can find these I would come to your house and congratulate you. I swear VS changes their products like every 6 months. So if you have a hoodie or color of sweatpants, stock up. Mine don't have pockets, which now i'm thinking I need ones with pockets!
Tank Top: Old Navy. A girl can never have too many tank tops. FACT!
Hoodie: Walt Disney World. What's great about this item, is I got in one night in Magic Kingdom but you can buy it today and have it shipped to your house. Some disney merch they have that option some it's only park exclusive.

Stay comfy, stay cozy. Be nice to one another, see you next Wednesday!

Red Carpet: Emmy Special

This isn't going to be a post about Best vs. Worst dressed celebrities.
But it will be a post of, these are the looks I enjoyed the most. Now you can decide who you liked the best.

I really enjoy award season as you can see here, and the red carpet as well. I have to say E! has the best coverage of the red carpet and they just get better with each award season. Their TV Personalities are what make that show, they all seem very fun and celebrities seem to look forward to being interviewed by them. I mean who wouldn't want to be interviewed by Guiliana Rancic, Ryan Seacrest, Kelly Osborne,  or Ross Matthews?! Ryan Seacrest especially, am I right?!?!!

So lets get to it...

I'm really glad purple is making it's way onto the red carpet. A few years ago, you couldn't spot any purple on the carpet, not even in accesorries. It was all silver, red, black, very old hollywood (which you see towards Oscar night) but for the Emmy's purple is a great color.

Ah! This blue, it's so...refreshing! Don't you think? Like I said before, I really think you can get away with more color at the Emmys. It's the first show of the season, and usually sets the tone for the rest of the season. If these gowns and tuxedos that I have shown you and are about to show you are any indication of whats to come... meow! That's all I have to say.

Wait...that's not all I have to say. I have some more!

Here is the classic award season colors and cuts that I was talking about. Classic is always good. That's why it's a classic.

This red, Bordeaux, wine, plum color palette is another that I am pleased to see walk the red carpet. The red of Sofia's dress is something very expected, but I'm happy we are starting to push into the more deeper reds and plums. It's different and this color can look great on all skin tones. You'd be surprised.
This is a color palette we have been seeing become more of a classic red carpet piece within the last 3 award seasons I would say. The nude, beige, dusty rose, white color is a color that if you can pull it off, rock it babe! Because it's a hard color for some to wear with skin tones. I personally love all the gown choices for this color palette. Nothing bothers me more than when a celebrity comes to an award show with a gown that looks like it could have been her wedding dress or a bridesmaid dress.

And lets not forget the guys...
I know what you're thinking, that's it? I'm thinking it too, don't worry. Was it just me or did it feel like less guys walked the red carpet this year. Or if they did, they didnt pose or pose seperately? Then again, I did catch the tail end of the red carpet coverage.

It's hard for me to chose a single look from last night's show to really love, because honestly I love them all in their own ways. And let's be honest...hollywood looked great last night!

Ah, Award Season

It's here! It's here! It's finally here!

AWARD SEASON!!!!

I look forward to this season every year. It's like christmas for me. And I LOVE christmas! Seriously, don't let me get side tracked about christmas, I could talk about that holiday for hours.

I seriously will sit down at the beginning of award season and plan out in my daily planner when all the award shows are, what channels they will be on, what time they start, what time the red carpet starts and who has the best coverage. You think I'm joking? Check my planner. Actually, don't do that. That thing is not as "organized" as it should be, and that's a bit embarrassing.

My obsession with award season started when I was a young girl, I can't remember the exact age but I know at the time I was in elementary school. At that point in my life I wasn't really allowed to watch all the television, movies, music and actors and actresses that performed in the nominated categories. I just watched it to see "what all the pretty girls and boys were wearing". My sister, Jackie, who is 10 years older than I am, did however get to see these nominated movies, music, tv shows, etc. So being able to listen to her and my mother, Judy talk about who they thought would win and what they thought about the nominees was interesting to me as a young girl.

Growing up, it was almost a family tradition. Every sunday during award season as a family, we would all sit down, each with our little bowls of popcorn or whatever snack mom let us have that weekend and we would start with the red carpet arrivals on E! network. Usually us girls would be in the living room and my step dad would come in periodically from the family room if there happened to be a game on at the same time, but when the award show came on, we all moved so he could watch. Like I said, it's a family thing.

As the years have passed, and as we have all grown up, especially me...we all still watch and make sure we all watch. Some things have changed (my sister got married in 2011, so now my brother-in-law, Mike, gets to join in the viewing as well) we may not all be in the same house anymore but we make sure to be close to our phones during the show so we can communicate about the red carpet and who won.

I worked this Emmy sunday, but was out right in time to catch the tail end of the red carpet and the show itself. It was just my mom and I this year watching, Jackie and I were still in contact during the show. She actually only watched the first hour because it was the series finale of Dexter, totally understandable! I kept her up to speed while she watched one of her beloved shows leave the air for good. My mom and I watched the red carpet and made comments about the fashions, the hair choices, if we would wear the gown and how well put together the male actors looked. All while we were in our sweat pants, with no makeup on.

With every award show, and every category we all pick a favorite or someone who we think should win. We don't have to say why, or explain ourselves (but it usually comes out anyways) and if we all agree we cross our fingers and keep saying the nominee's name/title over and over. When the presenter begins to read, we're silent. If you make a noise, you will be shushed. Don't push us, we'll shush you down! If it's who we want to win, we all celebrate for 20 seconds, clapping, jumping up and down, saying "I knew they would have gotten it". I always wonder what our neighbors think, they must hear us get so excited then quickly everyone gets shushed and it becomes quiet until the next category is announced.

I cannot convey how much excitement and happiness that comes to me when award season is here. Some of the award shows can be shocking (this Emmy show, I swear it was going completely different, ie. people who I didn't think would win, won) they can be touching (the tributes don't always affect me, at this time I usually refill my snack bowl, but this year I knew they would be honoring Cory Monteith, so I stayed put) they can be funny, serious, you really never know. And the host I believe really is the puppet master if you will of the night.

I think Neil Patrick Harris did an amazing job hosting. But with that said, I think he needs to take a break for a bit from hosting. The poor guy has been hosting often within the last 5-6 years. I'm not saying he is a bad host, I'm not saying that at all. I'm just saying, Neil, if you're reading this, which he probably isn't...take some time for you and your family for a bit.

This is just the beginning of award season!!!

Wardrobe Wednesday

I'm excited to announce a new weekly blog feature! It's called Wardrobe Wednesday... and you guessed it, it's going to be happening every Wednesday. I'll try my best to find sources for all the clothes I'm currently wearing so you can get it as well if you really like something. But not all of my clothing is currently in stores, I've had clothes since high school, so i'll try to find something current to link it to.
This stripe cardigan, oh man, how much I love this cardigan! Seriously, everyone should either own a striped cardigan or think about purchasing one. I know for some people pattern can be scary, heck color can be scary. But a grey striped cardigan is a great stepping stone, and more importantly will go with more than you could ever imagine! And that scarf, isn't it a great color for this late-summer-almost-fall-season? I've lately become smitten with a great infinity scarf. Did you know if you don't have an infinty scarf you can make any scarf into one!? (possibly a future blog post...stay tuned!)

I know everyone on the internet loves to see my home painted pedicure, but lets be honest as a college student I don't have much time or funds to go to the salon every 2 weeks to get pampered. So I've just gotten really good at painting my own nails and trying different designs and colors. I'm really loving this neutral color for my toes. And those flip flops, excuse them. They were $2.50 and one night I was online shopping and was $2 away from free shipping. 2 DOLLARS I TELL YOU!! So they got added into the cart so I could get free shipping, problem solved. #firstworldproblems

Oh hey! That's me. Gotta love a self timer, am I right? You should have seen me trying to set this up...run...pose...run back to the camera and check how it came out. Pretty sure I have a photo of just my head as I'm approaching the camera. FAIL! But it's a great picture of my full outfit. At least I think so. Those jeans however, are probably one of the most comfortable pairs of jeans I own. I love a good ripped jean, It adds great texture to any outfit. And let me tell you, anyone can rock ripped denim, at any age. Just be tasteful with your rips, are you catching what I'm throwing? There will always be another pair of ripped denim when your old one gets a little "loved".

Oops, almost forgot about you tank top. So sorry! 75% of the time a basic layer tank, and a cardigan are the best of friends. Okay, lets be honest, 99% of the time. Simple is always better!

To the fun, shopping part! Here's where you can find what I'm wearing, just click the hyperlinks:
Scarf : Lucky Brand, Teal
Cardigan: GAP, Grey and White (p.s. this is one of those "I've it in my closet for years" pieces, but here is a nice substitute)
Tank Top: GAP, black
Denim: Lucky Brand, Charlie Skinny Made In America

Disclaimer: All of these opinions are my own. I have not been paid to speak about these brands, or given these clothes to blog about. They are just clothes that I have bought because I simply like them.

Welcome, friends!

First blog post! Ok, here we go...

...
...
...

Oh, right thats my cue!
...
...
...
Who knew a first blog post would come with so much pressure. So many words that want to come out, but my fingers won't type fast enough to let them out.

But in all seriousness, thank you and welcome. Welcome to my first official blog! I have for years always gone back and fourth on the idea of creating a blog. I think I actually created one but never posted, I should look into that.

So why now? Why as a senior in college should I create a blog? Because, its as good as time as any to be honest. Also, I am currently taking a Social Media Marketing class and this is part of our ongoing project for the semester. But don't worry, this won't be a stuffy academic blog. It's honestly going to be a life blog, I'm approaching this assignment as if it was a sign for me to finally sit down and commit to having a blog, and one to be proud of. I have been reading blogs and forums for years. I think I have enough grasp on the subject of what a blog really is and what it means. It can mean a lot of things to a lot of people. I'm not here to make everyone happy but I will surely try! There is a blog out there for everyone, and I mean EVERYONE! Seriously, google a topic you like, a blog will surely pop up. Did you do it yet? Find any great...hey! Am I the only person who actually looked up a topic to see if it was a blog?

Alright alright, free pass given. But seriously, you need to try it. It's crazy how many blogs are out there! And thank you for choosing to read mine! Until next time, have a good night!
